Destin, FL located on the panhandle of Florida, is home to the most beautiful white silky sand beaches and crystal clear waters along the Gulf of Mexico. A bustling resort community, Destin still manages to hold on to that small town family friendly atmosphere and charm that it is know for. Destin has a very interesting historical heritage dating back to its early American Indian inhabitants. In the 1500s, Spanish explorers surveyed and mapped Florida, but Destin tracks its immediate history to a humble fisherman named Captain Leonard Destin. The captain traveled to the area from New London, Connecticut, somewhere around 1845 and started the local fishing industry. Destin is now renowed as the “world’s luckiest fishing village” and is the center of Florida’s largest fishing fleet. Destin has also gained a reputation for its fine restaurants, vacation rentals, beach houses, unique shops, and world class resorts. It is home to a very popular up scale outlet shopping center as well as our very own Destin Commons, a large water park, and numerous golf courses.
